DataRobot Recognized by 451 Research for Differentiated Augmented Intelligence Platform (Part 2)

In the first part of this blog post series, I introduced the philosophy behind DataRobot’s Augmented Intelligence approach, elevating the “A” in AI from “artificial” to “augmented.” I also explained DataRobot’s strategy as supported by the recently published 451 Research Market Insight Report, “DataRobot Rebrands as Augmented Intelligence Platform with Features to Support Repositioning” by Senior Research Analyst, Krishna Roy.

Roy’s report also outlines DataRobot’s key deliverables in realizing its Augmented Intelligence platform. The DataRobot platform unleashes the full potential of human and machine intelligence by accelerating and democratizing data science and by automating the end-to-end journey from data to value. DataRobot provides a centrally governed platform that gives users the power to create, operationalize, and consume AI to drive better business outcomes on any cloud platform-of-choice, on-premise, or as a fully-managed service.

There are three main deliverables that support the Augmented Intelligence strategy. Adding Composable ML to Automated Machine Learning helps data scientists experiment faster. This capability was announced in June and is currently available through a private beta program. Composable ML allows data scientists to quickly and efficiently build new machine learning pipelines and models with their own custom code, while leveraging automated best practices. They can then share them, train their teams, and deploy them to the production environment of their choice.

Since it was made available in 2017, DataRobot’s Automated Time Series solution has been helping data scientists overcome the obstacles that inevitably occur when building time series models. Time series modeling predicts future performance from past behavior – such as forecasting sales over a holiday season or ensuring inventory meets manufacturing demands without overstocking.

Last, but certainly not least, is data preparation. DataRobot’s Data Prep solution enables any user to have self-service access to rapidly explore, clean, combine, and shape data for machine learning model development and deployment. Teams can collaborate, reuse, and share data sources, datasets, and recipes with full enterprise governance and security to ensure compliance with organizational policies.

DataRobot MLOps creates a center of excellence from which teams can operationalize AI. MLOps provides a single place to deploy, monitor, manage, and govern all models in production, regardless of how they were created or when and where they were deployed.

With the recent introduction of the Continuous AI capability within MLOps, users can create multiple automated strategies to refresh production models based on a planned schedule or when an event like a drop in accuracy or data drift occurs. Continuous AI combines the best of automated machine learning (AutoML) with the best of machine learning operations (MLOps) to continually improve models throughout their lifecycle. Continuous AI protects models from all the unpredictability and chaos of the real world, enabling the best AI-driven decisions at all times, regardless of external conditions.

According to 451 Research Voice of the Enterprise: AI and Machine Learning Use Cases 2020 survey, 58% of enterprises said they test their models for bias before deploying. While that is greater than the reported number in 2019, it’s still far from the anticipated 80% that intend to do so. DataRobot’s unique Bias and Fairness tools test models for bias and perform root cause analysis to identify the likely source, allowing users to fix issues before they materialize and to make appropriate trade-offs between model bias and accuracy.

Just launched in June, the No-Code AI App Builder allows any user, regardless of their technical expertise, to quickly turn a deployed model into a rich AI application without requiring any coding. This means that any predictive model can become an AI app in minutes, putting the power of DataRobot directly in the hands of decision-makers and allowing a broad audience to consume AI.
