From El Capitan to AI Experience Worldwide: Announcing Keynote Speaker Alex Honnold
AI Experience Worldwide is just three weeks away, and Team DataRobot couldn’t be more excited about what our speakers have in store for our virtual audience. We’re pleased to announce our first AI Experience Worldwide keynote speaker: professional rock climber Alex Honnold. Best known as the subject of the 2018 Oscar-winning documentary Free Solo, Honnold is one of the most recognized and followed climbers in the world. His penchant for free solo climbing (where climbers ascend cliffs alone without ropes) — and his ability to control his fear while doing so — have earned him the nickname, Alex “No Big Deal” Honnold.
In 2017, Honnold completed the first and only free-solo ascent of the “Freerider” route on Yosemite National Park’s famous rock formation, El Capitan; this climb was captured in Free Solo. He also achieved Yosemite’s first ever “Triple Solo,” a title earned for climbing the park’s three larges faces alone in under 24 hours.
Honnold is also the founder of Honnold Foundation, an environmental non-profit that provides grants to organizations advancing solar energy access all over the world.

Prior to joining DataRobot, Bill held marketing leadership roles at innovative software companies including Oracle, Bullhorn, Endeca (acquired by Oracle), Ascential Software (acquired by IBM), and StreamBase (acquired by Tibco). Bill has a BS in Computer Science and Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
